ABOUT SEIRIN

SEIRIN was founded in 1978 in Shizuoka, Japan, with a mission to provide acupuncturists with high quality supplies for their practice. One of the first innovations to come from this new company was the world’s first disposable acupuncture needle. Prior to this, all acupuncture was performed with non-disposable needles, which raised concerns about sterility among patients and practitioners. Recognizing the need for safety in this regard, SEIRIN was the first company to provide hygienic, disposable acupuncture needles, which is today’s standard for acupuncture treatments. When the AIDS crisis hit Japan, SEIRIN was commissioned by the Japanese government to create a stable and inexpensive supply of disposable acupuncture needles. Through effective and efficient cooperation, a system of increased production was developed to ensure that the people of Japan would have the sterile supplies they need.

The American arm of SEIRIN was created in 1990 in Weymouth, MA to promote and distribute the brand throughout the United States. Founded by Thomas Riihimaki, a pioneer in the acupuncture supplies field, SEIRIN-America has helped SEIRIN become the first choice of acupuncturists in the United States. With the landmark 1996 decision by the FDA to reclassify acupuncture needles as safe and effective medical devices, acupuncture took another step towards the mainstream with SEIRIN at the forefront. More and more people were receiving acupuncture, and painless treatments with SEIRIN kept them coming back for more. People who were hesitant to try acupuncture had their concerns allayed by the high quality needles. A SEIRIN acupuncture treatment is unlike any other, which patients and practitioners alike will attest to.

Today SEIRIN continues it’s tradition of being an innovator, consistently offering the safest and most advanced acupuncture needle in the world. Try one yourself, and you’ll experience the difference. SEIRIN – the first and only “Painless One”.

MANUFACTURING

SEIRIN developed the first single use disposable acupuncture needle in 1978 and since then, has been setting the world’s standards for high quality, uniform, painless acupuncture needles. With SEIRIN’s fully automated and state-of-the-art manufacturing process, you can be sure you are using the finest, smoothest, safest and most advanced acupuncture needle available in the world.

The manufacturing of a SEIRIN needle begins long before the manufacturing process starts. The raw material is analyzed and must meet or exceed SEIRIN’s standards before it is accepted as an input for manufacturing a SEIRIN needle. The lot number found on each box of SEIRIN needles includes the production date and information about each of the raw materials used to produce it.

SEIRIN uses a world-class clean room environment to clean, assemble and test needle batches. The air in this environment is continuously filtered and monitored for impurities and every technician who enters wears protective clothing. In addition, to preserve clean room integrity, any item or person entering must pass through an air shower to remove any impurities.

All SEIRIN needles are sterilized with Ethylene Oxide Gas (EOG) in strict compliance with ISO 13485, MDSAP (Medical Device Single Audit Program), J-QMS (Japanese Quality Management System), CE Mark (European Common Market), and WHO (World Health Organization) guidelines. Extensive sterility, biological, and chemical tests are performed on each production lot to validate that every needle is sterile, hygienic, and non-pyrogenic. Additionally, samples from each lot are subjected to further testing and are retained at the manufacturing facility which allows for full quality oversight of each lot over time.

There are many aspects of the manufacturing process that were developed by and are proprietary to SEIRIN. From their rotational drawing process that gives the stainless steel a strong internal structure to their automated sharpening process, from their triple polishing and buffing to their electrolytic cleaning process, SEIRIN’s superior processes and technology are the reason the needles live up to their legendary reputation.

People all over the world have put their trust in SEIRIN needles decade after decade. You too can be guaranteed your patients will receive painless, stress-free acupuncture therapy with SEIRIN.

TESTIMONIALS

"I only use SEIRIN needles because I care. I care about my patients and want my students to care about their patients as well. SEIRIN J-Type needles are the cleanest materially and energetically. From the method of production and handling of the needles, there is no human interaction during the process leaving the product free of any negative energy and gives the highest energetic vibration as acupuncture needles that will go into the patient's body."
- Dr. Atsuki Maeda, DOAM, L.Ac.

"SEIRIN has done it again! The new Elipeas are the perfect intradermal needles for cosmetic facial acupuncturists. These user-friendly, painless insertion needles are safe and effective. Color-coded handles make them easy to see and simple to remove. No mess, no fuss - just great results! Thank you SEIRIN."
- Dr. Shellie Goldstein, DACM, A.P., L.Ac.

"I use a lot of points on the bottoms of feet and SEIRIN needles make for an almost painless insertion. The Pyonex press tacks never irritate the skin and don't fall off very easily or at all.  I tend to only see patients once a week, so having press tacks that will last is very important for extending my treatments."
- Kiiko Matsumoto, L.Ac.

"The .3mm Orange Pyonex Singles allow me to needle children without causing pain and gives me the ability to send them home with the needles in, to extend the treatment for a few more days. The feedback I receive from the parents is inspiring and one of the many reasons this is the only products I would feel comfortable sending my patients home with."
- Monika Kobylecka, L.Ac.

"The touch of the insertion is different from anything I have ever used. There is no sense of breaking through the dermal layers of the skin, as well as deeper fascial planes."
- Whitfield Reaves, L.Ac., OMD
